CORPORATE INFORMATION
Telefónica is the most important telecommunication company in Argentina.

 

It has been 15 years now that the company provides services in Argentina and has managed to become established as a leading enterprise specialized in integrated communications. This holding has contributed in the last decade to the development of telecommunications, still setting the solid foundations to plan and forecast in Argentina in the near future within the dynamic Society of Information.

 

Telefónica has concentrated its telecommunication business, strengthening its prescence in the fixed line telephony and mobile telephony, orientating its way of doing businesses to satisfy the communication needs.

NEED
Telefónica needed to count with a tool to provide other companies with the capacity to manage its own mailing domains.

 

The platform implemented is based in Open Source format and that is why the applications of external basis were chosen respecting this model.

 

The objective of the project was to develop a tool together with the opening of a new unit of business within Telefónica. It was intended to bring together companies with the outsourcing of support, maintenance, hosting and management of the servers destined to manage its e-mail addresses and according services with specialists in each sector.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE
The biggest challenge that Exelsum had to face was the integration of different Open Source tools and the development of a control panel in a programing Php environment, a Ldap directory and a PostgreSql database.

 

All the installation of software had to be supported by Red Hat Enterprise, which had to deal with the planning and implementation of the platform to be used.

 

The documentation confectioned had to stick to the standards stated by both Telefónica and Red Hat.

 

Once finished the development, it can be concluded that the tool had the expected stability being a B2B application, requiring at the same time high parallel processing levels where a big deal should be made of the security regarding the information.

Also, the application includes a system of intelligent reports especially designed for the daily work and another system of monitoring reports of servers (Hardware), in an individual, as well as in a global way and the software that composes the system destined specifically to Telefónica S.A.

 

The system permits Telefónica to create the contracted plan for each client company providing automatically the service chosen through the same application.
