NEED
Red Hat needed to carry out the launching of its sites at a global level corresponding to Latin America due to the opening of commercial offices in the region, specifically Argentina and Brazil.
For that purpose it was necessary the translation, edition and building of Red Hat's site in Spanish and Portuguese. The project demanded a precise translation of technical terms and specifications of the company with a volume of more than 65.000 source words, all these with a deadline of three weeks.
The client relied in Exelsum, not only for the translation and proofreading in both languages, but also for the execution of all the phases of the process necessary for the final publication of the sites.
BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Although the project did not cast initially further technical challenge, finally it did cast several concrete challenges, between which the following are highlighted: keeping the sites exactly as they were regarding their structure, respecting the initial file tree with its names and extensions, extracting the plain text inside the programing PHP code for its translation to then build it again, etc.
A meticulous study of the process was made regarding the logistic and technical aspects, tanking into account the urgency required for the launching and publication of the sites in both languages. All of this was carried out with Open Source Technology sticking to the working standards of the client.

PROJECT DETAILS
Red Hat's original file tree included more than 160 files and more than 65.000 words for its translation to Spanish and Portuguese.
A PHP process was carried out for the extraction of files, generating two directories exactly identic but codified in order that the identification of the location of the different files was effectively carried out once the translation was finished. A similar process was then run into Red Hat files with PHP code to extract the plain text to be then translated.
The translation was carried out with a team of translators that worked exclusively for the project during the time the project lasted by means of a tool that permitted the distinction of the translation of the terms that were repeated in order to preserve a coherence through out the 160 pages of the site. By means of this same tool the final proofreading was carried out. Before entering this stage a detailed study of the technical terms was carried out and a specific glossary of terminology was redacted for Red Hat.
Once the translation process was finished by means of the same initial process the original file tree was reestablished, this time in its Spanish and Portuguese versions, leaving as a result both sites ready for their publication with no more work to do on them but little adjustments in its code.
The project was carried out satisfactorily and in time permitting Red Hat to do the global presentation of the sites the day it was intended to be.
